The Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, also known as Poganovo Monastery, is situated in the valley of the Jerma River near the village of Poganovo. It belongs to the Eparchy of Niš of the Serbian Orthodox Church and is an important place of spiritual, historical and cultural heritage.
History and heritage
The monastery was built at the end of the 14th century, and its foundation is associated with the Serbian nobleman Konstantin Dejanović Dragaš. Its architecture and fresco painting bear witness to the rich tradition of Orthodox art and spiritual life in this region.
